Every once in a while our little school from Largo gets some recognition in a big time way. Today's Tampa Bay Times put IRCS in the spotlight in a twofold way.

First, recent graduate James Thorpe was named the Male Track Athlete of the Year. Winning the state championship in the shot put and placing second at state in the discus put James in position for this honor. We don't get many athlete of the year awards so this is truly an amazing honor. Congratulations James!

But that's not all, Vern Kinsey was named Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, the boys team won the district, placed second in the region, and finished fourth place at the state meet. This was the highest finish ever for an IRCS team. Vern is a humble behind the scenes leader who selflessly serves the students at IRCS and is very deserving of this honor. Shout out to you Coach Vern Kinsey.
