Instrumental

The instrumental music program has several bands that meet as an exploratory class during the academic day. There are also a number of groups such as marching band, pep band, small ensembles and drum line that are offered as extra curricular activities.

Curricular Classes

Fifth Grade Band (Beginning Band)
The fifth grade band is a beginning ensemble in which any student may learn to read music and may play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. The class meets three times a week and performs once in the first semester for parents and family and then again in the Spring Concert in April. The class focuses on teaching the basics of music performance, instrument care and cleaning, basic music theory (reading music), performance etiquette, and good practice/study habits'.

Middle School Band
This class is for students grade six through eight who have had at least one year of experience playing a wood wind, brass or percussion instrument. Students who are in this grade level and want to start band should come and see Mr. Futoran to discuss options of private lessons along with the band class. This class focuses on developing our God given gifts and talents, to use for His glory by focusing on better playing technique, good study and practice habits, good performance etiquette, as well as topics such as music history, theory and listening skills. The Middle school band performs three to four concerts a year: Christmas concert, ACSI festival, FBA festival, and a concert in the spring.

Regiment (High school band)
This class is for students grades nine through twelve who have played a wood wind, brass or percussion instrument of at least two years. Students who desire to join and have not had two years with an instrument should still contact Mr. Futoran and discussions that are available. In the fall Regiment makes up the backbone of the marching band. Students begin marching rehearsal during the seventh period band class period. Besides the marching venue, the Regiment performs in the concert hall for the Christmas concert, ACSI festival, FBA festival, spring concert, and other possible concerts throughout the year. Like the middle school band this class focuses on developing our God given gifts and talents, to use for His glory by focusing on better playing technique, good study and practice habits, good performance etiquette, as well as topics such as music history, theory and listening skills.

Extra Curricular:
Marching Band-The Golden Eagle Regiment Marching Band is open to students in grades nine through twelve, as well as exceptional seventh or eighth graders (audition required). This award winning organization plays for varsity football games, parades and several competitions through the fall. Students attend band camp at the end of July and beginning of August and practice after school August through November. This is a fantastic way for a new student to get plugged into the student body before school even starts. Students who want to march are HIGHLY encouraged to join Regiment. If, however, that is not possible, this extra curricular activity is available.

Drum Line-This extra curricular group is open to grades seven through 12. This group plays for Varsity football games, pep rallies, varsity basketball games, and other events during the school year. There are two drum lines. The First Line is for more experienced players and has more performances during the year. The Second Line is used to introduce interested students to the exciting world of cadences and marching percussion. No experience is required for the second line. Both lines practice before school two days a week starting in August and end sometime in the second semester.

Color Guard: This program is for students grades seven through 12. The color guard is an auxiliary unit of the marching band; practicing and performing with them as an integral part of the show. Students learn to dance and manipulate flags, and other equipment to visually enhance the marching show. There is no musical background necessary for this group.

Small Ensembles: There are several groups of small ensembles where students can play outside of the classroom. Ensembles are determined simply by interest and ability level. there is, currently, a flute ensemble and a brass quartet that perform as often as they see fit. If there is any interest in being apart of one of these ensembles or starting a new one, please see Mr. Futoran.

Pep Band:  This is a new ensemble that is still in its beginning stages.  This group performs pop music during basketball games to help create the most electrifying environment possible, spurring our basketball fans to cheer louder and our players to play better.  This group performs only once or twice in the basket ball season.  Anyone can come and play, students teachers and staff alike.
