Golden Eagles Athletics Update - March 12, 2018

BEACH VOLLEYBALL –The IRCS Beach Volleyball match with Spruce Creek was cancelled on Friday, so Coach Foster held a Queen of the Beach competition with his girls.  They had a lot of fun and worked on their game at the same time. They have a home match on Wednesday with West Orange High School and Bradenton Christian on Thursday.

SOFTBALL –   The Varsity softball team played three games last week and showed great improvement in several areas although coming up short in all three games.  Miranda Bornhauser continues to have a stellar season on the mound. They travel to Northside on Tuesday and host St. Pete Catholic on Thursday.  The MS girl’s team had a great week winning all three of their games.  They play Berkeley at home on Tuesday and St. Johns at home on Thursday.

BASEBALL – The Varsity team played three games last week with the highlight being an 11 inning win over Dixie Hollins on Thursday.  They play one game this week at home against Admiral Farragut on Thursday.  The MS team has four games this week with Northside on Monday and St. Stephens on Tuesday both at home.  Thursday they travel to Berkeley and Friday they travel to St. Pete Christian.

TENNIS – The tennis teams continue to improve with each match. Langley Shurden and Trey Rogers are playing well for the boys.  Justine Coloney, Mariah Lawrence, Taylor Surett and Payton Somers are keeping the girls team on a path for districts.  They play CCC on Monday, Calvary on Tuesday and Northside on Thursday, all away matches this week.

TRACK – The MS team competed in the Championship Meet at Shorecrest on Tuesday.  The girl’s team was 4th out of 22 teams and the boys were 5th out of 22 teams. Outstanding performances were: Mateo Luna 1st in the 1600 and 2ndin the 800 and Erica Roberts 1st in the 100 and 200 and 4th in the long jump. Kaci Anderson took 5th in the 400 and 800. Alex Gabriel took 3rd in the high jump. Cohen Messer was 4th in the high jump and Josh Susie was 5th in the high jump.  The Varsity team traveled to Berkeley on Friday and out of 13 teams competing, the boys were 2nd and the girls were 4th.  The following athletes took 1st place in their events: Ava Labrant in the pole vault, Dylan Neter in the triple jump, Isabella DeJesus in the 400, Sol Weller in the 400, TJ Cline in the 800 and Cooper Labrant in the 3200.  Two school records were set on Friday by the 4 x 100 relay team of Lily Kudelko, Erica Roberts, Kat Cavonis and Amaya Page and Erica Roberts in the 200. We are hosting the IRCS Invitational this Friday.
