Where Are They Now – Yuri Ross

This is the first in a series of features on IRCS alumni and how their preparation here has enabled them to achieve great things.
Yuri (pronounced You dee) Ross was a member of the graduating class of 2013. She attended IRCS for 11 years. During her time here she was actively involved in Cross Country, Yearbook, and National Honor Society. She participated in a wide array of mission trips serving in Wimauma, Alabama, Nicaragua, and Bolivia.
After graduation she was accepted to the University of South Florida where she graduated in 2016 (yes, just 3 years after high school) majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in Broadcasting. During her college years, Yuri served on two different medical missions to Honduras and Mexico through Global Medical Missions Alliance.
As I sat in my office and talked with her this week, Yuri told me, “I had lost hope in media but I did see the need for Christians to be in the field.” It was about that time that she ran into former IRCS teacher, Gaynelle Renshaw at church. Gaynelle and her husband Daryl currently serve with Trans World Radio (TWR). TWR is a multinational evangelical Christian media distributor. The largest Christian media organization in the world, it uses mediumwave or high-powered AM and shortwave transmitters, local FM radio stations, cable, satellite, Internet, and mobile device technologies. Currently, their programs can be heard in 190 countries in more than 230 languages and dialects. Through this connection, Yuri saw a viable Christian alternative to use her newly acquired degree. She has applied and was accepted to serve a one year term with TWR on the island of Cypress. The Cypress site focuses their broadcasting on reaching the Middle East and North Africa.
To be able to go, Yuri must raise $24,000 in support for the one year term. She currently has 70% of that amount pledged and is trying to secure the rest so she can go to the field in November or December. If you would like to help Yuri, you can click here.
We are very proud of Yuri and her accomplishments since graduation from IRCS. We hope you will join us in praying for her as she seeks to serve the Lord in Cyprus and beyond.
